The Escola da Regeneração do Cacau (Cacao Regeneration School) is an experiment based in Mogi das Cruzes, São Paulo, that ran from November 2025 to September 2026. It connected regenerative networks in São Paulo and Bahia, including Greenpill Brasil, ReRe, CabrucaDAO, Coop dos Povos and BayaNativa. Its organizer described the work on the Regen Coordination Hub on September 17, 2026, in a report for the Greenpill Fund for Regenerative Gatherings.
The starting question: what happens when a regenerative network uses a real material resource, cacao, as a common reference point for experimenting with coordination, value circulation and Web3 tools?
From cacao to chocolate
Through a Gardens proposal, the project received 1,520 GPBRV, part of which paid for cacao. Cacao from Bahia was harvested, fermented and dried, but transport to São Paulo became a bottleneck, so the project bought local cacao through Casa Hateva and kept producing. The chocolate was made bean to bar in São Paulo, and part of it was delivered to members of the Greenpill Brasil network.
The project then created 4,200 K-KAU, a community currency for circulating the chocolate, with matching offers set up on Sarafu. The report is clear that the infrastructure exists but the currency has not yet circulated.
Back to Bahia
Since April 2026, the project has held regular Tuesday and Sunday meetings with the Bahia network, where relationships grew around CabrucaDAO, Coop dos Povos, agricultural communities and women's networks. The next step, still in preparation at the time of the report, is an in-person activity in Bahia that combines cacao with practical Web3 education, through the BayaNativa and Pedagogingas network.
The report's main lesson: building technical infrastructure is not the same as creating circulation, which still depends on relationships, trust, logistics and participation.
